On Wednesday 4 May 2016, the Institution Sainte Marie de La Seyne sur Mer welcomed 6 Pondicherrians within the context of an academic and cultural exchange with the Maruthi Higher Secondary School.
Mr Sattianandame, headteacher of the Indian school, had met the organisers of the project - Mrs Vella and Mrs Bouteille - and the headteacher of ISM in November 2015. That meeting had facilitated the planning of the arrival of the Indian students and their accompanying teacher. There are 3 boys and 2 girls aged 16 and 17 who have come to discover French culture.
For Jacques Bouteille, the full meaning of this exchange is to be found in the creation of a link with an emerging country, because " what is important is human interaction and the development of globalisation as a good thing".
The Parents' Association at ISM, represented by its Chair, Carole Laure, presented the Indians with polo shirts bearing the school crest and regional confectionary.
Welcome to Cynthia, Jayasri, Yogeshver, Sriram, Annamalai and their teacher, Mr Ravindran.
The Parents' Association will be keen to follow their progress.
