CAMINO DE SANTIAGO 2019

Lors de la rencontre annuelle qui s’est déroulée à Dundalk en janvier/février 2018, les chefs d’établissement coordinateurs ont adopté une proposition d’organiser un groupe européen pour parcourir à pied le Camino en 2019.

La MEA en Irlande organisera l’évènement, mais ce sera aux CE de le promouvoir dans leur propre établissement. Le projet réussira seulement si les membres du réseau le soutiennent. Il est prévu que des pères maristes y participeront.

Les objectifs du projet sont :

• De renforcer le réseau en rassemblant des membres du personnel des établissements éducatifs en Europe
• De proposer une formation importante dans les domaines de l’ethos mariste et de la compréhension spirituelle

Activité : Parcourir à pied les 100 derniers kilomètres du Camino de Sarria jusqu’à Santiago. (NB – 100 kilomètres représentent la distance minimale pour obtenir la Compostela, document qui est remis au pèlerin à son arrivée à Compostelle par le Bureau des pèlerinages pour attester qu'il a fait le pèlerinage.)

Dates : Du jeudi 11 avril au mercredi 17 avril 2019.

Participants : On espère que chaque établisement sera représenté par au moins un membre du personnel - deux de préférence.

Voyage et hébergement : Chaque participant prendra ses propres dispositions pour se rendre à Sarria, en Galice, dans le nord de l’Espagne. (Des transferts de l’aéroport de Santiago sont disponibles et il y a des trains en provenance de Madrid). L’hébergement sur le Camino et à Santiago sera réservé dans des chambres à deux lits. Prix estimé €30 par nuit.

Prochaines étapes : Les chefs d’établissement sont priés d’annoncer cet évènement dans leur établissement et de me contacter pour faire une réservation avant le 1er octobre 2018. Si vous souhaitez participer à cette activité, je vous prie d’en parler avec votre chef d’établissement.

EUROPEAN MARIST EDUCATION NETWORK

CAMINO DE SANTIAGO 2019

At the annual meeting that was held in Dundalk in January/February 2018, the headteachers approved a proposal to organise a European group to walk the Camino in 2019.

The MEA in Ireland will administer the event but the Principals/Heads of Centre will promote it in their own institutions. It will only succeed if members of the Network support it. It is anticipated that some Marist Fathers will join the Camino.

The aims of the project are to:

• strengthen the Network by bringing together members of staff from the Marist educational centres in Europe
• provide an important staff development opportunity in relation to Marist ethos and spiritual understanding

Activity: To walk the final 100 kilometres of the Camino from Sarria to Santiago. The reason for walking 100km is that it is the minimum distance to earn the ‘Compostela’ which is the certificate of completion confirming your participation in the Pilgrimage.

Dates: Thursday 11 April to Wednesday 17 April 2019.

Participants: It is hoped that at least one and, if possible, two members of staff from each school/centre will take part.

Logistics: Each participant will make their own way to Sarria, Galicia, Northern Spain. (Transfers from Santiago airport are available and there are trains from Madrid). Accommodation will be booked en route and in Santiago in twin bedded rooms. Allow approx. €30 per night.

Next steps: Headteachers are asked to publicise this event in their institution and to contact me with a booking by 1st October 2018. If you are interested in taking part, please speak to your headteacher.
